In the new version of WSE, transcoding via the MainConcept Easy Video API (EVA) for NVIDIA GPUs has moved to the GA (General Available) stage. The stability of this method of interacting with the GPU card in version 4.9.7 was indeed questionable, especially when adding a graphical overlay.
The transcoder's stability has been improved for VBR-encoded source streams.
Transcoder startup speed has been increased, especially when transcoding multiple video streams simultaneously.
Fixed "Cannot enable executable stack" transcoder startup error on newer versions of Linux (Ubuntu 25.04+, Debian 13), where the Linux security subsystem prevents execution of code located in the sharable stack.
Performance improvements have been announced for both live and VOD scenarios in HTTP Origin mode. All previous versions of WSE experienced increased server resource consumption when using HTTP Origin mode and multiple simultaneous consumers (several CDN networks, for example).
Support for the RTSPS protocol (an implementation of the RTSP protocol with SSL encryption of the data transmission channel) has been improved.
Several CVE vulnerabilities have been fixed in components of the Wowza Streaming Engine Manager web management interface and in OpenSSL components on Windows (primarily required to enable publishing streams to another server using the SRT protocol).
